Please join us as we present Essence of Sound, a new event we’ve created as a platform for community and togetherness. Come celebrate the music that moves us and the labels and artists we love. For our first installment, we present Eric Kupper. Eric is an extremely accomplished DJ and music producer whose career spans over three decades. His work with Def Mix Productions and his Hysteria label are believed to have built the foundation for what house music is today. As a remixer, Eric has worked with Diana Ross, Whitney Houston, Depeche Mode, Curtis Mayfield, Lenny Kravitz and dozens other chart-topping artists. Essence of Sound is our labor of love coming to you – let’s dance together and be inspired!

Eric Kupper
Eric Kupper
Eric Kupper got his start two decades ago working as a keyboardist and guitarist for such producer/remixers as David Morales, Frankie Knuckles, Arthur Baker, Peter Rauhofer, and Richie Jones to name a few. Since 1986 he has played on, remixed, and/or produced over 1400 records for artists spanning all contemporary musical genres.

Eric also creates a great deal of music outside of the dance realm, including unashamed pop, heavy rock, punk, folk, indie rock, or whatever floats his musical boat. Artists include John Wesley Harding, Julee Cruise, Coolbone, Drill, PM Dawn, The Butterflies of Love, Saint Etienne, Bonnie Bailey, Robina, Peyton, Gaz Brookfield, McQueen, Ofra Haza, Jaymes Bullet, Laura Pausini, and Gloria Estefan.

A few years back Eric was bitten (hard!) by the DJ bug as well and became a resident at London's Pacha with Hed Kandi for four years, as well as DJing all around the globe as an independent DJ or as a Hed Kandi resident. Eric is now a resident DJ with Tokyo Disco, a new venture created by Mark Doyle, the former creator of Hed Kandi. With Tokyo Disco he presently enjoys a residency at Neighbourhood in London, Enclave in Chicago as well as numerous spots throughout the U.K. and the world.

Also owned the Hysteria label in the mid 1990s.
DJ Said
DJ Said
As a teenager, Said sorted after his sibling’s extraordinary musical interests and collections. At the same time, he was quite connected to my neighbors, Fela Kuti's organization. Said was instrumental in enticing young elite audience to attend Shrine (the late Fela Kuti's nightclub) in support of classmates - Dele Sosimi and Femi Kuti who were then musician with Fela and the Egypt 80 band. In 1984, Said moved from his hometown Lagos, Nigeria to England as a scholar. While in England, Said gained a vast knowledge of the London underground scene. When he moved to the US in 1988, he became extremely close to the work of some legendary DJs and musicians whose music he played in his formative years. While getting an academic business education, Said maintained a strong presence in the San Francisco and New-York's underground scene. By 1995, he began residencies and guest appearances at clubs and private parties in the San Francisco Bay Area, New York and beyond. As a result of Said's talent, he was well embraced in the industry. Said has since been successful in sharing his spiritual gift and insight with friends and colleagues around the globe. He has consistently captured the attention of audiences worldwide with his DJ skills, outstanding events and music production. Currently, he has a score of releases on labels like Wave Music, Ibadan Records and Chez Music, NY.
