█ Youngsta should need little introduction. One of the figureheads of dubstep since the very beginning, resident at scene-defining club night FWD>>, and the DJ who first played some of the genre's most-loved anthems, he continues to be a hugely active figure in dubstep's development. His weekly show on Rinse draws deep for new music, helping to expose talented new producers, and the founding ethics that defined dubstep in its early years still remain at the heart of his sets.

█ GYPSY MAMBA — Celebrating his recent album release — GRANDO — with OHMYGOD & Esqu, Gypsy Mamba is highly influenced by the creative beat community of Los Angeles. A first generation Romanian-American born in California, residing in Rancho Cucamonga, Darius Giurar has been chasing music through his childhood. Giurar was introduced to the saxophone, guitar and piano by the church, an experience that ended with dissatisfaction and mischievous repercussions. Years later, his musical desires were rekindled through the electronic music production and performances of local artists at Low End Theory, Boom Box, Beat Cinema and More Fire. A gifted laptop from his cousin opened the floodgates of creativity for Giurar, drowning out excuses and inspiring him to produce. He quickly realized how fulfilling electronic music production was, and he now has a means to an end. Giurar's passion, dedication and talent was soon recognized, and the artist found himself performing at the very club nights that had inspired him. When Gypsy Mamba isn't helping to host and create artwork for Beat Cinema, he's performing in San Francisco with the Resonate crew and focused on running the label Rootnote Collective, which he co-founded in 2014. Gypsy Mamba also signed with the influential label Alpha Pup Records, and released his first LP Da Feenux in 2015.

This event was made possible by SOUNDPIECES

SOUNDPIECES — For over 13 years, Soundpieces has been a consistent staple of diverse and forward thinking electronic music in San Francisco and across the globe. Responsible for countless Bay Area debuts such as Skepta, Mount Kimbie, Hudson Mohawke, and Nicola Cruz, Soundpieces has become a powerful ambassador of international music in California. But our work doesn't stop in the Bay Area, we have helped book festivals such as Symbiosis Gathering, and produced one-offs in New York, Detroit, SXSW Austin, Outlook Croatia, throughout Asia, and beyond. Valuing quality over any specific genre or style, Soundpieces continues to be the quality plug for fresh, exciting musical styles showcased in the most sophisticated and underground atmospheres. With our rotating roster of new talent and heavyweight artists, along with the longest running bass music weekly in San Francisco, we have built a legacy as one of the West Coast’s greatest resources to experience underground electronic music. @SOUNDPIECES THE VOID Acoustics Soundsystem We are honored to be able to showcase Soundpieces on Monarch's custom horn-loaded Void Acoustics Sound System, the only one of its kind on the West Coast!!! When you descend to the club's dance floor you are immersed in a world of complete euphony generated by the venue's four protruding tuba-like enclosures. Without a dead spot in the room, it's easily the best place in the city to hear the biggest sound.
